  R21bn tender still on ice

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Development is expected to make a decision soon on the future of its embattled South African Social Security Agency CEO Fezile Makiwane, but has kept silent on the fate of its R21 billion automated payment services tender.

Social development minister Edna Molewa said a special investigating unit had looked into alleged flouting of Public Finance Management Act and irregular procurement processes.

Molewa was, however, tight-lipped on whether the department had taken any decisions on the tender.
