THERE'S A NEW TREND affecting output and productivity, reports Accsys. The traditional problem of "burn-out" has made way for "bore-out", which describes a scenario in which an employee's zest for work is extinguished by the mundane. "Bore-out" refers to what occurs when employees lose impetus at work, and feel frustrated and ineffective due to boredom and a lack of inspiration. Accsys CEO Teryl Schroenn says local businesses should take the issue seriously. "As with any partnership, the degree to which an individual invests in a business to establish and further his or her career should be matched by employer investment in the development of employees. This issue is a real concern and is causing waves within an already turbulent skills pool," Schroenn says.
