To be frank, I’m not entirely sure whether I’m more surprised at president Jacob Zuma’s new choice of communications minister, or industry’s wish-washy reaction to yet another dark horse, who’s ability to lead the one of the country’s most crucial ministries is impossible to gauge at this time.

The Gauteng e-tolling debate is picking up pace again and it seems as if the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) and government are scrambling to spin the benefits of the controversial system any which way they can. Even if what they are saying is completely preposterous –more so than before.

Government’s increasingly less subtle overtures towards controlling the free flow of information and monitoring of personal communication should be a red flag for all South Africans who espouse the values of democracy.

Now I take a pill – seriously. This is the latest awesomely stupid-yetbrilliant innovation from Motorola.

In what can only be described as a monumentally flawed and infinitely stupid idea, government has recently put its weight behind electric cars, announcing an incentive for local manufacturers that will successfully design an electric powered vehicle and put it into mass production.
