Fibretronic, Comservice ink strategic deal

Fibretronic Sales, a South Africa-based technical network services provider, has signed a strategic agreement with global telecoms giant China Communications International (Comservice).

The move will see the companies working together exclusively as local partners on selected deals.

Comservice offers telecoms infrastructure services, business process outsourcing services and applications; Fibretronic Sales provides services related to transmission networks, including cabling and installations of associated equipment.

In a statement, Fibretronic Sales, which is a 100% black-owned and women-empowered company, says with the backing of Comservice, it will be able to offer its services and expertise to telecoms operators.

According to Dillo Lehlokoe, CEO of Fibretronic Sales, her company can now help network providers with the building of physical networks.

“We are now in a position to tap into Comservice’s expertise, geographical presence and financial stamina to even help provincial and local government departments in setting up networks,” she says. In addition, she adds, this puts Fibretronic Sales in a perfect position to provide broadband connectivity to rural areas, an achievement that almost all the incumbent network providers have been struggling with and have not managed to bring to fruition.

“This is a perfect opportunity for us to get into this partnership, because equipment manufacturers are also getting into a space where they provide services and content above and beyond just the hardware.

“We will now have direct access to massive resources from a technology, human resources, finances as well as geographical presence. We will also be able to partner with service providers on the continent,” explains Lehlokoe.

The partnership enhances the company’s capabilities to not only design, build and operate networks on behalf of OEMs, but also allows Fibretronic Sales to look into offering managed services for operators, she adds.

Additionally, Fibretronic Sales will benefit from Comservice’s telecoms hardware knowledge and the fact that it has a track record that includes large multinationals as well as government accounts.

Local IT distributor AxizWorkgroup has signed a deal with Aruba Networks to distribute its products in South Africa. “South African technology buyers rely heavily on international analysts to offer guidance on which products or vendors to select. Aruba has been placed in the leaders’ quadrant in Gartner’s Magic Quadrants, which gives it a favourable reputation in the eyes of the local market, which naturally increases technology uptake,” says John Hindley, business unit manager of Aruba at AxizWorkgroup.
