MTN has introduced a three-month promotion that offers PayAsYouGo customers three different low-priced bundles and a “guaranteed rate” of 99c per minute across all networks, regardless of the time of day.
This comes amid a marketing war between
MTN and its smaller rival,
Cell C, which launched its 99c flat rate in May 2012. Like
Cell C’s permanent tariff,
MTN’s new prepaid promotion is based on per-second billing.
MTN says, from today until 17 June, prepaid customers will be able to purchase R7, R12 and R17 bundles, which include free midnight minutes, SMSes and data.
MTN’s chief marketing officer,
Brian Gouldie" rel=tag>Brian Gouldie, says the PayAsYouGo promotion gives customers an “affordable, easy-to-use” prepaid option.
To buy the new
MTN bundles customers need to dial *141*2*794#, and select from the three promotional PayAsYouGo bundles.
While unused bundle airtime will not be lost – but revert to the relevant price plan rate –
MTN says any midnight minutes, data and SMSes that are not used within the validity period will expire.
