Neotel has announced the appointment of two new members to its leadership team.

The second national operator says the appointment of Steven Whiley as CFO, and Nadia Bulbulia, as GM of corporate communications and brand, is significant, as it bolsters Neotel’s contingent of local talent.

MD and CEO Sunil Joshi says Whiley and Bulbulia, will focus on strengthening Neotel’s position in the South African marketplace.

“We have a strong focus on integrating diversity and local talent into Neotel, and these two appointments align well with this strategic aim. Neotel is focused on making telecommunications more affordable to businesses and consumers in SA, as well as bringing innovation through its fibre network infrastructure. These appointments will support key areas of Neotel’s growth strategy,” says Joshi.

Whiley replaces Anil Khandelwal, who will return to India towards the end of this financial year. Having obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Natal University, Whiley continued his studies in the UK, where he qualified as a chartered accountant.

In 1996, after having worked in the banking sector in London for a few years, he returned to SA and has since worked at board level in a number of companies and industries.

Bulbulia has been involved in the communications sector for over 15 years. She previously held the position of councillor at the Independent Broadcasting Authority and the Independent Communications Authority of SA.

She also worked for Vodacom for a brief period, and spent three years heading Cell C’s regulatory division as a member of its executive team.
