The openSuse initiative is a first for Novell, seeing the transformation from an internal to externally focused openSuse community.

According to the vendor, the next release incorporates major code updates, and will ship with Mozilla Foundation`s Firefox, e-mail, instant messaging, firewall and anti-spam software. Another welcome addition is desktop search functionality similar to Google Desktop, as well as OpenOffice 2.0.

Novell also aims to tempt users, with its dual-boot functionality, to test-drive the Linux platform in its latest release.
