Plans are afoot to launch a new "collaboration platform" to boost innovation in Gauteng.

The Centres of Expertise pilot programme, to be hosted at The Innovation Hub, aims to promote collaboration between industry, research, academic institutions and government in projects from the aerospace, ICT and biotechnology sectors.

The pilot programme is being launched by The Innovation Hub in collaboration with COFISA (Cooperation Framework on Innovation Systems between Finland and South Africa).

The CoE Pilot Programme is based on a Finnish model that utilises top-level knowledge and expertise as a resource for business operations, job creation and regional development, aimed at identifying the region`s strengths and creating economic growth.

The initiative has called for proposals on projects to be undertaken. Proposals should be submitted by 7 March
