CONSUMERS WHO raced to Dell SA's Web site to take advantage of incorrect pricing on Inspiron 640m and 9400 laptops will have their orders cancelled and charges reimbursed, according to a statement from the company.

Dell SA last week said that a technical error, which saw the Dell Web store advertising the two laptops at R0.00, was being corrected and that it is confident that the store will go live early this week.

"The customers who placed orders for these products have been advised of the pricing error and the process of reimbursing customers who wish to cancel their orders for any associated goods or software that formed part of the order for the Inspiron notebooks has begun. Customers will also be reimbursed for related delivery charges."

Nevertheless, several SA bloggers who spread the word and placed orders themselves, say they have yet to hear from the vendor. One blogger, Mike Stopforth, acknowledging that the "generous gesture" was undoubtedly a "glitch of note", ventured that the handling of the situation could lead to SA's own version of "Dell Hell".
