Telkom loses grip on Africa
Has the window of opportunity closed? "Telecommunications monopoly" may be the name of the game for Telkom here at the heart of the continent`s economic hub, but the incumbent has failed at any significant success beyond SA`s borders.

SA not geared to go electric.

Internationally, auto manufacturers are gearing up for the production of electric cars. But South Africa has bigger problems, which are likely to delay the arrival of silent, eco-friendly, zero-emissions vehicles for at least a few decades.


Is the DOC a sinking ship?

"A horrible year" is the best way to describe communications minister  Siphiwe Nyanda's first 18 months in office. Very little, if anything, has turned  out according to any kind of plan and his department has been described by  his own acting director-general, Harold Wesso, as a "sinking ship".

Will it add to the bottom line? It is official: SA`s fourth mobile operator, 8ta, is here and has been hailed as a catalyst for competition in the mobile industry, ultimately offering greater choice for the South African consumer. By Leigh-Ann Francis
While a growing awareness of the threat of climate change and the recent economic recession have spurred uptake elsewhere, SA is still lagging in its adoption of green IT, and risks falling behind as the rest of the world racks up efficiency gains.
