Deon Liebenberg, Vodafone Global Enterprise
Vodafone Global Enterprise (VGE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Vodafone Group, says Deon Liebenberg has been appointed VP of VGE Africa, as of April.
Liebenberg is no stranger to VGE, as he was previously managing executive for VGE at
Vodacom in SA, and CEO for the
Vodacom Business Africa Group of companies across Africa, a position he stepped into about a year ago.
VGE is a multinational company that provides telecommunications and IT services to large corporations through hubs throughout Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. “Deon [Liebenberg] brings over 20 years’ experience in the ICT and telecom industry, earned working at some of SA’s leading operators and multinational telecom service providers. I am certain Deon will use his expertise and vast experience to build the VGE Africa portfolio and further accelerate our growth strategy across Africa,” says president of Asia and Africa VGE, Stevan Hoyle.
Liebenberg’s new role will involve the management of VGE’s portfolio, which serves Vodafone’s largest multinational customers across Africa.
He holds a bachelor of economics from the University of the Free State, as well as a bachelor of business management and administration and a master in business and administration from the University of Stellenbosch.
After a year as MD for Samsung Electronics in SA, Liebenberg took up a position in July 2012 as managing executive for
Telkom Business Mobile, where he was responsible for driving strategy and execution for all mobile activities in
Telkom Business.
Liebenberg also previously headed up BlackBerry’s sub-Saharan African operation, and fulfilled the role of country sales director at Motorola.
