Internet group AccessKenya says it is ready to connect to five more Kenyan counties in a move that will see it delve into new business territories. Rwanda has set 31 July 2014 as its digital migration deadline, joining a range of African nations which are trying to beat a global June 2015 international deadline. Nigerian broadcasters that fail to renew their broadcast licences could be shut down. The National Broadcasting Commission has said warning letters have been issued to all defaulters, and the commission plans to shut down television stations that fail to pay up by the end of January. “By the end of this month, any company that has not paid its broadcasting dues to the NBC will have to lose its licence,” chairman of the commission, Emeka Mba, said. – ITWeb Africa

T-Mobile US reported a fourth-quarter boost in customer growth and offered to pay customers to switch from rival services, escalating already intense in the US wireless market.
