Following the release of the flagship Nokia Lumia 920 and the mid-range Lumia 820 last year, the lowest-cost member of the Lumia family, the 620, is now available in SA.

The handset is initially available on an Anytime 100 contract, at R299 per month (includes 150MB data). The 620 features exchangeable shells and is primarily aimed at the youth market.

The 620 will be available in SA in white and black, with a variety of interchangeable back covers available. The handset includes the augmented reality application, City Lens, the full suite of navigation apps, and Music.

SA GM Colin Baumgart says: “It is great to be extending the family in SA with the addition of our third and most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The 620 adds more youthful appeal to the range and enables us to reach new audiences and markets with a highly desirable product, at a competitive price.”

According to , the 620 features a camera “lenses” application, which can be used to add effects and filters to pictures. The handset has a 5MP rear camera and VGA front-facing camera. The Cinemograph application is also available on the 620, and allows users to animate sections of still photographs.

“Also new to the 620 is PhotoBeamer, an app that makes it easy for photos from the smartphone’s camera roll to be shared instantly on any Internet-connected screen, by pointing the camera at the Photo-Beamer QR code,” says , adding that the 620 is also NFC-compatible.
