The SA National Roads Agency (Sanral) has been running a marketing campaign touting e-tolls on Gauteng’s roads as pleasantly inexpensive, but opposition to the system said recent newspaper adverts are a “pathetic attempt” to hoodwink the public. Sanral has published an advertisement in various publications that positions the financial implications of e-tolls on motorists as “better than expected”. – ITWeb

The Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill, which will enable the implementation of e-tolling in Gauteng, is now at the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), as it moves closer to becoming law. However, there is no indication as to when the Bill, which allows for the collection of e-tolls, will become law, as there are several steps that need to be taken first. – ITWeb
